The convertible was upholstered in leather and had power-operated windows, seat and top, along with an outside rearview mirror on the left, as standard equipment. New features included a lighted ignition key slot, electric windows, and a roof rail cover. [10]
- The same basic design that was developed in 1942 would still be used in most application until 1950. However, Buick was determined to be back on track as one of the leading luxury and executive brands and the 56 C Super convertible was a home run in every way. Excellent lines, power features and lots of chrome sure made a statement amongst buyers.
- The design of your 1947 Special carried through to mid 1949 model year. It was then replaced by a really revolutionary design which some called the late 1949 Buick Special and others called the 1950 model. The senior Buicks then picked up the design for the 1950 models. This redesigned Special then made the Special the best selling Buick model.
- Basically for 1947, Ford modified the 1941 model through the 1948 model year. The 1947 Ford model is a sporty design that was top of the line for the 1947 model year. It still had the pre-war design lines that were still a head turner. This 1947 Ford convertible has had a ground up restoration. The Monsoon Maroon paint is excellent and new.
- The Roadmaster, by comparison, used the 144 horsepower, 320-cid eight. Demand for new cars was still strong and little was changed for the Buick Super in 1947 and 1948, except for a more handsome grille. Post-war Buicks remain a practical and handsome example of curvaceous 1940s styling.
